I am probably the only person you’ll ever run into who is genuinely thrilled to have received a Summons for Jury Duty.  This is the first time I’ve ever gotten one and so, in July, I will eagerly report for jury duty and  probably end up disappointed to be sent home.  Nonetheless, I have never been called for Jury Duty before so I am pretty excited.

A little backstory.  When I was young, my mother watched Perry Mason and Ironside (both court dramas)… now, I was at an age (3-5 years old) that I didn’t understand that people on TV shows were actors and so I had no idea that the jurors, many of whom were the same people episode to episode, were actors and so I thought that being a juror was a job. And I thought it would be a pretty cool job to be a juror.  I was disappointed when I found out when I was a little older that you couldn’t be a juror for a living, but I never wanted to be an attorney, which you would expect would have been the “next best thing” after finding out you couldn’t be a professional juror.

The other big piece of news is that I will be going to Boston in June to officiate at a wedding.  I’ve officiated at weddings before but have never had plane travel involved.  The last time I was in Boston was about 8 years ago.  I don’t travel too much so I am both anxious and excited.  I have been working on writing the ceremony and since it is a themed wedding, assembling appropriate attire for the wedding (it is a Neo-Victorian/Steampunk theme).

I have a few things to get done so will wrap up for now. I’ll try to not wait so long between posts next time!
