****WARNING**** If you are easily offended, usually read this blog with children present, don’t like discussion of fornication or other “f” words (including THE F-Word), you may want to skip today’s post. It’s ok…I would rather you skip a day than delete me from your reader altogether…

A couple of weeks ago, @lgalaviz and @lucysfootball and a few other people came up with the idea that they were going to be posting something on the theme of Sneaky Fuckers and they went ahead and did it and as much as I want to be one of the cool kids, I kept mulling the idea over in my head and wondering how many people were going to stop reading my blog because I’m using the “F-word” and sortve gratuitously, at that, but honestly, all the other bloggers are doing it (and yeah, if they jumped off a bridge, I’d probably be a lemming and go blithely along because why not?)

So, there are entire scientific studies on Sneaky Fuckers who are basically not the alphas of their groups but rather the guys that get themselves a lil’ somethin-somethin when the alphas are off attending to important alpha stuff. Sortve like “Uncle Joe” always seemed to hang around your house when Dad would go fishing with the guys. (What, that didn’t happen in your house? Maybe if was “Aunt Lynne” who came and kept your Mom company whilst Dad went away… That right there is another whole scientifical phenomenon that I am not going to get into today, I’ll just let you ponder about that, ok?)

ANYHOO…this week marks the birthday of a good friend of mine who, unfortunately, passed away not long ago. Big C was a ladie’s man. He wasn’t my type but we were friends and he spent a lot of time with my wasband. (Yes, I am sure they were not..”intimate” friends) and the reason I bring Big C up is because he had a…talent? that fits in with the Sneaky Fucker theme. And I heard about this from enough different people that I truly believe that what was reported happened and is pretty much deserving of “Sneaky Fucker” status in a pretty literal way.

It seems that Big C had a propensity for performing entire sex acts IN HIS SLEEP without any lucid moments. In fact, from what I heard, while he was a fairly gifted lover when fully awake, he was, it seems, extraordinarily talented whilst asleep. If you asked him anything about the incident afterwards, he had no recollection that it had occurred. Now, if this was something I had heard from just one person or from two ladies who were friends and might have discussed this, I would have written it off to ego/bravado and not given it a second thought. But in the decade and a half that I knew him, this came up in several conversations with a number of ladyfriends of his who were not at all friends with each other. These were independent reports.

I know that there are probably plenty of folks out there who will read this and write it off as total bullshit. But this was a dude who LOVED sex and believe me, it pained him to be missing these escapades by sleeping through them. I guess what I don’t understand is why, if the ladyfriend realized at some point during the act that Big C was asleep she didn’t either a) wake him or b) stop doing what they were doing. I mean, if she got up and walked away, he wasn’t awake to chase her down and finish the task, right?

So, there you have it… actual sneaky fucking that was so sneaky that even the fucker didn’t realize the act was even taking place. I know this is much less scientific than the other posts on the topic, where the writers did real research and read theorems or something, but they say to write what you know and I consider having had to listen to a plethora of young ladies recall this stuff to me plenty “scientific”… (or maybe I just wanted to spread the “TMI” around a little). You’re welcome!

So, I have a bit of a quandry. I was given a ticket for an event that is a Friday evening and all day on Saturday (starting early in the morning) event that is an hour and a half drive from home. The event is being held at a Hilton and the conference room rate is still above and beyond what I can afford. On the other hand, gas to get to and from the conference for two days won’t be cheap either. Less than the hotel room, but not cheap.

I don’t want to miss the event. I think it would be a really good networking opportunity. And I got a free ticket. I think this is the sort of dilemma many bloggers with smaller audiences face. We want to go to events which would increase our networks (and possibly bolster our readership) but because we don’t have huge readership which draws sponsors, we often can’t afford to go to events. (Or maybe it’s just me and other bloggers don’t have this issue). So, I’ll be pondering how to make this work.

If you missed it, I’m taking part in a giveaway, so make sure to go and enter (see my previous post) and then check out the other great blogs in the hop!

Hope you all have a stellar week. I’ve been really busy so far this week (and it’s only Tuesday!) Let me know if any of the rest of you face the challenge of wanting to go to events but running into obstacles!

It’s hard for me to believe that February is almost here and that means Valentine’s Day is coming up. It also means Groundhog’s Day is coming, but you usually don’t get yummy chocolates or pretty flowers for Groundhog’s Day. Which is kind of a shame. I’d love a Groundhog shaped chocolate…

Anyhow, the good folks over at EdenFantasys are ready for Valentine’s Day. And if you’d like to get something a little sexy for your Valentine, Edenfantasys is a good place to start looking! In fact, they even have a gift guide for those of us who have no idea where to begin!

If you are in the market for a new toy but you have a budget, check out the clearance items. Shopping clearance is a good way to stretch your shopping dollar. I know that a lot of people (myself included) often think of toys, lingerie and pretty much anything to do with sex as a “luxury” item, so being able to get “more bang for your buck” is always appreciated.

I don’t know if you’ve ever heard of the Ohmibod line of vibrators… they interface with your MP3 player and vibrate to the music. I’ve never used one myself but had a friend who reviewed one and it looks like fun. I will probably get one of these at some point because I love cool “Tech” stuff and have to admit adding tech to my sexytime sounds pretty hot. And right now EdenFantasy’s is having a sweepstakes where you could WIN one!

Hope you have a great Valentine’s Day and that EdenFantasys can help make it even better.

And on February 1st, I have something else fun I’ll tell you about!

I read quite a few blogs and I have since 2004. I have to admit that I always envied the “A List” bloggers who got sweet deals with some company to review a product or to be a writer for some well-known company. And I always thought that those opportunities were limited to the “A List” bloggers. But, the other day I was reading about an upcoming giveaway and the post writer mentioned EdenFantasys had opportunities for bloggers to write for them. I sent her an email but was so excited that I surfed on over to the EdenFantasys website and found the EdenLovesBloggers program. I filled out the very quick and easy form and wondered if I could/would make the cut. I also figured that they are probably really busy and it would probably take the 2-3 business days for a response that their form says it can take. I was pleasantly surprised to get an email a couple hours later inviting me to look at the available opportunities and let them know what I’d be interested in.

Since I am just getting started with this, I figured that the best fit for me would be writing sponsored posts for EdenFantasys. The requirements are very straightforward and you are compensated with gift cards. This is for writing a blog post (which you do anyways, right? You’re a blogger!) and adding a couple of links and talking about EdenFantasys.

I know that there are people who might hesitate to get involved with an “adult” site, but EdenFantasys is really very tasteful. They promote healthy relationships and healthy body image and you can go to their site and just read articles (yes, I know the old cliche about men reading Playboy “for the articles”, but EdenFantasys site DOES have great articles!)

And the beauty of the EdenLovesBloggers program is that you will never have to write about a product that you aren’t comfortable writing about. There is so much more going on over at EdenFantasys that you will never have to admit to loving something like this (you may not want to click that particular link if you’re at work or your kids are sitting on your lap) but you COULD if you wanted to!

I am thrilled to be part of the EdenLovesBloggers program. It was really easy to sign up, the person who contacted me was really helpful and I would encourage anyone who would love to have a relationship with a well-known company to consider becoming a part of this, or any of EdenFantasys other great programs!

Brand new year… clean slate ahead and so many things to accomplish.

Hope everyone had a happy and safe New Years Eve celebration. Mine was very quiet.

I generally spend from New Year’s Eve until my birthday (in March) planning out how things should/need to be. I know that sounds like a long process, but I like to give myself some time to try things and figure out what works and what does not before committing to a plan.

There is cheese soup in the crockpot, there is laundry hanging to dry and with the exception of my bedroom, which is chaos due to the excavation and organization of the Closet from H3LL, most of the apartment is looking pretty good.

My resolution for this blog is to get here AT LEAST once a week and update. My big resolution for the year is to make Yelp Elite.

Glad you could join me as we venture forward!

I applied today for an opportunity to do some writing and I’m very excited about it. I’m not going to go into a great deal of detail right now because it’s probably not appropriate. I also signed up today for a two day copywriting seminar in March. It’s not that I think I am a weak writer, it’s because I want to put some polish on skills, maybe learn some new techniques but mostly I want some insight on how to become a really successful writer.

I don’t mean successful in a monetary way (although I have to admit that it would be nice) but to be able to write things that would really touch people’s lives and be thought provoking and help facilitate good things happening in the world. I have a number of friends who are really brilliant at what they do and I would like to be able to articulate those things in ways that will appeal to people and make people think and I think that this seminar will help me to do that.

I am thinking lately more about “becoming” and less about “being”. I find myself wanting to connect, communicate and really do something meaningful with my life. I know my boss doesn’t understand that copywriting is something that most definitely has a place in our office, even if my focus is primarily numbers-based. I think that working with the company website and putting together some powerful and compelling prose could greatly increase the opportunities made available to us. I understand that we work largely with science, but there is no reason that science should be cold and unemotional. Facts can be presented attractively. And the people with the money to invest don’t always speak the scientific language. They may desire quantification that can’t be found only in data. If you can appeal to an investor in a way that speaks to dollars and sense (spelled that way on purpose), you can often get them to open the purse a little wider. At least that’s been my experience. There are some people who no matter what your approach will always be clutching the pursestrings.

And if you are looking for something truly unique for a gift-giving occasion, you should check out Atomic Hero Wear. If you are a person who likes comic, webcomic, sci-fi or anime conventions and always wanted to have something cool to wear, get in touch with Jack. In addition to being an awesome costume guy, he is also an all-around great guy who I have had the pleasure of being friends with for many, many years.

I will let you all know if I get to go forward with the opportunity I mentioned at the beginning of this post. Even if I don’t, I am feeling good for having submitted an application and hope to strengthen my voice and writing to be able to really make a difference.

(P.S. I know that at this time of year, we often turn our thoughts to those less fortunate…And while I am all for helping people, please don’t forget animals need our help, too. )

I know it’s been a while since I have posted here but November has proven to be a really busy month! First, there’s NaNoWriMo and I’m trying to get a 50,000 word novel written in the 30 days of November. I will need to do a lot of writing this weekend to catch up to where I want to be on the novel. No worries, though, I have 4 days off so I can (hopefully) get things done.

Also, I started doing volunteer work this month with New Beginnings Cat Rescue. It’s only been three shifts (I’m a cage cleaner…not glamourous but needed and involves getting to cuddle kitties!) I’m going to continue doing this as it’s a good workout and helps kitties and just makes me feel good.

Then there was the T-Mobile Dallas Holiday Tech Shopping Party. TexasHolly sent the invite and I was excited to not only get tips on holiday shopping and get to see some of the latest and greatest tech gear, but also get to see some blogger friends I hadn’t seen since the last one of these wonderful gatherings!

Got in the door and wristbanded, entered the contest by tweeting (actually, I tweeted to @TexasHolly before I even got in the door!) and played some games. I also got to eyeball the lovely goodies for us to munch and I’ll admit that I had to restrain myself from parking next to the table and hoovering it all up. Fortunately, there was plenty going on and I was distracted from the deliciousness (seriously, the tomatoes on the sandwiches were fresh and tasty and that is a rarity when eating catered food. BONUS POINTS!)

Fred the Regional Manager (who was officially on vacation but had still come out for the event) shared some shopping tips and a few cool apps with us (to help with holiday prep). Fabulous employees Arthur and Tanya (who looked stunning in her pink sequin Santa hat!) helped us out by chaperoning the games and it was cool that they genuinely seemed to be enjoying themselves. I know it can be tough to be tapped to work events like this when you’d rather be home in front of the TV, so I thank them for being fabulous hosts!

I loved seeing blogger friends, TexasHolly throws GREAT parties and I am looking forward to the next DFW blogger gathering. Thank you to T-Mobile and TexasHolly for a fabulously fun evening!

Then I got an invite to the YELP You down with Y-E-L-P party! It was held at Life in Deep Ellum which is a cultural center in (duh!) Deep Ellum (a section of Downtown Dallas) It was a good size for this event, their parking lot is on the small side which made parking interesting , but I found a spot pretty easily (glad it wasn’t me who had parked in Mark Cuban’s private parking space). I felt like I was a good decade older than most of the other attendees but one of the first things I did, to help fit in with the theme and give myself a little bit of a younger vibe was let the absolutely amazing Live Hair Group stylist give me bangs. The stylist cut long bangs for me and I have a picture of myself from the 80′s where I was rocking a similar look so it was a good way to “turn back the hands of time”. The girl before me getting her bangs done was really nervous but she looked absolutely gorgeous when she was done (she was stunning to begin with, but he did a superb job with her bangs!)

They had a DJ spinning the 90′s tunes who was excellent, he did a really excellent job with gauging the crowd. It was so much fun to spend a night listening to music that I knew all the words to (why yes, I AM OLD….now would you kids get off my lawn?*giggle). Dallas PowerHouse had dancers there and they were all very talented and after a little encouragement (in the form of some lovely drinks and some enticing dancing by the DPH dancers) several people were on the dance floor. They had furniture from CORT which was very stylish, functional and comfortable.

Velvet Taco had an amazing pulled pork taco with a pineapple habenero salsa that was spicy but not “my mouth is on fire” spicy. The Deep Eddy Sweet Tea Vodka mixed with lemonade was a nice drink to go with the spicy tacos. There were Bahn Mi sandwich slices from Pho is for Lovers, which I will need to track down in the VERY near future as I am always on the hunt for tasty Vietnamese eggrolls and figure if the eggrolls are half as good as the bahn mi I should be a very happy lady. The icing on the cake (literally!) was Whiskey Cake… a chocolate toffee dream come true. Well worth weaving through the crowd over to the corner they were ensconsed in!

Not a lot of conversation going on, but it really seemed that people had a good time (I know I did) and it makes me want to pursue YELP Elite status so I can go to more YELP gatherings (this was a rare “open” party).

That brings us to today, Thanksgiving. I had originally planned on staying home, alone, and eating Kraft Mac n’ Cheese. I know, not very celebratory, but there’s no point in cooking a huge meal if you’re alone, in my opinion. I was rather shocked, then, to get a call yesterday from my boss’s wife inviting me to have dinner with them. And so, I will be trekking out for dinner tonight with some of the classiest people I know.

Wishing everyone a very Happy Thanksgiving. Hope you will all take a moment to pause and reflect on the things you are thankful for today and every day. I’m thankful for everyone who comes and reads my blog, as well as a number of personal blessings I have. Eat, drink and be merry (and drive safely, if you are needing to be out and about).

November is National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo) during which you attempt to write 50,000 words in a one month span. It’s pure insanity. And yet, I find myself participating again this year because goodness knows I don’t have nearly enough to do (/sarcasm). I enjoy writing and I keep telling myself that if I keep doing NaNoWriMo, eventually I will come up with a novel that someone wants to read. I have good ideas (or at least they seem that way in my head) but it’s much more difficult to get them down on paper. Or, onto the computer screen.

I also want to make an effort to make fizzies to be sold for the holidays. I should have started that in September or October but things have been outrageously complicated and busy and here I am staring deadlines in the face. And don’t forget trying to write a novel. Thus, I am up at 1:30AM blogging. Because my brain is flitting around and trying to keep up with my to-do list and apparently “sleep so you aren’t a worthless lump tomorrow” did not make it on to the to-do list. This is a frequent problem for me… things that are necessary don’t make the cut. Sometimes I really feel like my own brain is a 4-year-old that is bound and determined to get the cookie from the cookie jar that you’ve told her to stay out of until after dinnertime.

AND… I still would like to make some social plans but on the flip side of that, I am pretty psyched that I have no obligations for Thanksgiving. Four days off work and no excuse to not write my little fingers down to nubs. The biggest bummer is having to listen to co-workers making plans for their holiday and then having to try to avoid answering “so what are you doing for the holiday” because if you think about it, it could be seen as pitiful because isn’t everyone supposed to want to be with their family for the holidays? But for me, the holidays have always been very stressful and not at all enjoyable so having the opportunity to sit at home and write is very welcome.

But now… now it’s time to sleep. So I don’t sleep the entire day away. Too much to do. But not enough to set an alarm!

A co-worker of mine goes to Art Fairs and I have meant to get to one at some point but something has always come up that I didn’t make it. Until today. Huffhines Art Trails is close enough to where I live that it is really no problem to get there and it was a beautiful day today. It’s also close to the place I usually grocery shop, so I actually had a secondary reason for going to the art show. Or, at least, I could bribe myself into actually going because I needed to be in the neighborhood anyway.

And so, after taking care of a pesky errand, I headed off to Huffhines Art Trails. I didn’t park in the closest lot to the event choosing to enjoy the extra walk to the trails. (Or perhaps forcing myself to get some exercise… which sounds less appealing but is closer to the truth).

Huffhines Art Trails runs today (Oct. 22) and tomorrow (Oct. 23) from 10AM to 6PM. So you don’t even have to get up stupid early to go. Huffhines Park at Apollo Road & Plano Road in Richardson, Texas is where the event is being held. And this isn’t just paintings. There is jewelry, walking sticks (really nice ones!), bath goodies, wood creations PLUS there is entertainment and, if you are so inclined to partake, there is food.

There was an artist with Stained Glass pieces and some badass walking sticks named David Darnell. You can find his website here. I really want the stained glass piece that is a heart with a keyhole in it. Doubt I will be able to afford it before he sells it, but it’s gorgeous.

There were a couple of soap/scrub/lip balm makers there so I got to do a little bit of research, as well. Always good to know what people who work with bath products (other than me) are doing. Not in a competitive way, but it’s just really interesting to me to see what others are doing. I should probably shut up about the fact that I make bath stuff to when I talk to them, but I guess I would be mad if someone came and smelled all my stuff and then later I found out that they made bath stuff, too because I’d be wondering why they didn’t say something. I guess I’m just not overly competitive and all about learning all I can from other people.

I was actually really impressed with Huffhines Art Trails. To the point that I am actually considering going back tomorrow. Partly for the walking and partly to catch anything I missed today. (Not to get out of the cleaning I SHOULD be doing…honest….)
